Our
Story

Visionary Volunteers

Zero Hunger began as a grassroots response to the growing issues of food insecurity and social isolation in Rushmoor and its neighbouring communities. Inspired by the stories of neighbours and friends facing difficult choices between basic needs and the realisation that many individuals were going to bed hungry and feeling isolated, we came together to make a change. Drawing from Dee's personal experiences, and Helen's knowledge of the  social care sector, they envisioned a movement that would address both the physical and social impacts of food insecurity. Supported by their family and friends and the charitable help of local Organisations, Supermarkets, Businesses, and Volunteers, Zero Hunger was founded to not only provide food parcels and meals but also to create a compassionate network of support where individuals could find community, resources, and a sense of belonging. Today, the movement continues to grow, driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to nutritious food and meaningful human connection.

Causes

Our Impact Areas

Food Distribution

Providing Nourishment

Our food distribution program ensures that vulnerable communities have access to nutritious meals. By partnering with local organisations, supermarkets, donors and food banks, we deliver essential food supplies to those in need, addressing immediate hunger crises and promoting healthy eating habits.

Education

Empowering Communities

Education is key to sustainable change. We will provide educational resources and training on nutrition techniques and growing foods at home to empower communities to grow their own food and make informed choices about their diet. By educating individuals, we can break the cycle of hunger and poverty.

Advocacy

Creating Awareness

Advocacy plays a crucial role in influencing policies and raising awareness about food insecurity issues and the wider social insecurities. We advocate for sustainable food systems, equitable food distribution, and policies that support access to nutritious food for all, whilst promoting social interaction and multigenerational activities. By speaking out, we can drive lasting change and ensure a hunger-free future for all whilst helping to prevent social isolation.
